"A phase I trial [was done] to determine the toxicity and efficacy of isolated hepatic perfusion with tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and melphalan (Alkeran) under mild hyperthermic conditions." Subjects were eleven patients with unresectable metastatic liver malignancies. [37] The combination of these chemotherapy agents with isolated liver perfusion and hyperthermia had considerable toxicity.  However there was a partial response in one or two leiomyosarcoma patients, mean survival time was 20 months, which is within the same range as seen in previous isolated hepatic perfusion (IHP) studies."
